Who is the Antichrist?

Who, or what, is the Antichrist?

Evil alliance, or sinister individual? Some say his appearance is still in the future. Others say he appeared long ago in the days of ancient Rome. But the Bible indicates that he is alive today! Do you know who he is? Are you sure? You need to be, for you can't understand last-day events until you understand this power.

Q. As Daniel chapter 7 begins, Daniel sees four beasts coming up out of the sea. What do these beasts and the sea represent?

  • "The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth" (Daniel 7:23). "The waters ... are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues" (Revelation 17:15).

Please note that God interprets the symbols in Daniel's vision. Daniel saw a vision of four beasts coming up out of the sea. Daniel doesn't have to guess what they mean. They aren't mysterious symbols that cannot be understood by man. God Himself tells Daniel that the “beasts” represent earthly kingdoms, and the “waters” are “peoples, multitudes, and nations, and tongues.”

Q. In Daniel 7:7, the fourth world kingdom is represented by a horrible monster with iron teeth and 10 horns. What do the horns represent?

The 10 horns represent the 10 kings or kingdoms into which pagan Rome (the fourth kingdom) was eventually split (Daniel 7:24). (These 10 kingdoms are the same as the 10 toes of the image described in Daniel 2:41-44.) Roving barbarian tribes swept in upon the Roman empire and carved out land niches for their people.

  • "I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things" (Daniel 7:8).

Seven of the 10 tribes developed into the countries of modern Western Europe, while three were uprooted and destroyed (“plucked up”) by a “little horn” that had “eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.”

We must identify this "little horn" power carefully, because God takes more space describing it than the other four kingdoms combined. Why? Because the biblical characteristics identify it as the Antichrist of prophecy and history. There must be no mistake in making this identification.

God gives us nine characteristics of Antichrist in Daniel 7 so we can be certain of his identity.  They are not some human opinion or speculation. Historians could actually tell you quickly what power is being described.

I respectfully disagree with my brother and sister SDA's. The "little horn" of Daniel 7 is not the same as the "Horn Power" of Daniel 8 - the specifications don't match. The "little horn" is correctly identified as the Roman Catholic Church, but the Antichrist (Horn Power), is none other than Satan himself - the original Antichrist.

The bible says the Antichrist is a man and the number of his name equals 666... Lucifer is not a man.

True, but Satan (the 8th King) possesses the Anti-Christ (7th King who rules a short time.)

I'm not sure if Satan is possessing the Antichrist. Perhaps he's a type of a Nephilim that grew to be more human-like. Who has the DNA of Satan. He's practically a copy of Jesus Christ.

Have you considered that the eighth king is possessed of Satan? The seventh king "must remain a little while" and Pope Benedict VI was the first uncontested pope to retire so he remains after his reign. The bible used the peculiar element of his reign to differentiate him from the rest. Now the eighth king is here (eighth since 1929, the healing of the head wound when Mussolini gave the pope his title of king, sovereign, back)
Pope Francis is the first Jesuit (the beast that was) pope. They have a motto "perinde ac cadaver" which means 'like a corpse'. In Matthew 12 Jesus asked what the sign of the end would be and He said "where the corpse is the eagle will gather" and pope Francis is the first pope to speak from the US congress. Many a fulfillment of prophecy if you are led to see.

The RCC nor Islam has anything to do with the Anti-Christ, hes a Geo-political leader from Europe. The 8th King is actually Apollyon, who is led by Satan, thus I said Satan. But its Apollyon who is released from the pit and who kills the two-witnesses.
A per Matthew 28, it means that he and the Church will be at the Marriage Supper (Armageddon) to eat the Feast if those destroyed. Hes telling them he will come back from the East and the Eagle will be where the Carcass is at......SEE BELOW.
Rev. 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
Thus the Eagle is where the Carcass is at. Armageddon.

You are confusing God's judgement of those who chose him not, with the reunion and feasting of The Father and His children, those who chose the love of The Father, and the sacrifice of Christ. Rev 19:17,18 "And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” Is a very poetic description of God's judgement and destruction of those who chose Him not...While Lucifers children are judged, The Father's children are saved, while Lucifer's children are devoured as in a feast of destruction, the Fathers children will be at the wedding feast. One death and destruction, the other life and love.
