dangerously off course. In the 18th century, however, John Harrison’s marine
chronometer allowed navigators to compare local time with Greenwich Mean Time,
providing a precise measurement of longitude, which revolutionized maritime
travel.
Like those
ancient mariners lost at sea, the spiritually lost don’t know where they are

The Bible
warns us about the dangerous condition that lost people face. “The
wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up

A
Crippling Accident
When Eagle,
a fifth grader in the Philippines, jumped the fence at his schoolyard, he
landed hard in a ditch and broke several bones. Eagle’s father, Eric, took him
to the doctor, but they couldn’t afford surgery. As a result, Eagle’s bones
didn’t heal properly. “Everything changed,” Eagle says. “I couldn’t go to
school or help my father with chores. I thought, ‘I wish this did not
happen to me.’”
Eric coped
with his family’s new reality by mind-numbing drinking, even as his children
begged him to stop. But God was about to bring hope to this family through you
and the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism in the Philippines (PAFCOE).
A Drunk
Attends a Strange Meeting
One day,
PAFCOE missionaries arrived at a playground where Eagle was watching other
children play. He listened to their message with deep curiosity. “It was the
first time I heard the Word of God,” explains Eagle. The missionaries then
invited Eagle to an Amazing Facts prophecy meeting. Because his father was
drunk, an aunt took him to the first meeting.
The next
day, Eagle went in his wheelchair to the store where his father would buy and
drink alcohol. Eric says, “Eagle pleaded with me to take him to the meetings,
but I was angry and scolded him. He cried, and I felt pity—so I took him. It
was rainy and muddy, and I was drunk, but hearing the sermon was pleasing.” The
passion of this young boy to hear simple Bible truth moves my heart! The Lord
longs to respond to those crying out for help. In 2025, you can be the

A
Family Restored
Eagle and
Eric attended every meeting afterward to hear vital spiritual truths. “I
learned what we shouldn’t eat and about the Antichrist,” says Eagle. “I learned
the true Sabbath is Saturday. I grew closer to God through the seminar.” Eric’s
life also changed. He shares that he no longer got drunk at the store but went
“home to take the children to the meetings. I believe that God Himself gave me
a new life.”
As our world
continues to veer off course and descend into chaos, I am grateful you helped
bring a bright smile to this boy and his father. Eagle says, “God is in our
family now. I am happy that my father has changed. We now pray with him every
morning, noon, and evening.” Yet, I can’t help but think of all the broken
families in our world who still need the peace and direction of the Lord. We
