Babylon is not only a real kingdom that existed in ancient times, but it is symbolic of a power that opposes God and His people. It is mentioned in both the first and last books of the Bible. What is Babylon? It symbolizes a counterfeit religion and a doctrine of salvation by works. Revelation 17 and 18 explain this power more specifically.
