I Want to Follow the Bible

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined” (Isaiah 9:2)

Jesus never fails in saving those who call upon Him, but sometimes people turn their backs on God. It even happened with Judas, a disciple of Christ.

Casey, a single mother of three, knows what it’s like to watch a spouse turn to God and then fall back into substance abuse. Yet the Lord sustained her partly through the ministry of Amazing Facts. Even when those we love and trust fail us, God delivers.

Casey had already known deep disappointment in her life. “My parents divorced when I was fifteen. We did not have good role models growing up; I have more bad memories than good ones,” she says. In turn, that led to a life of religious confusion. “I did not understand the concept of true faith,” Casey explains. “I learned to live off of my emotions rather than Bible principles. My life was a mess.”

A change took place while her husband went through a Bible training program in another city after the couple had been separated for a year. Casey began taking Bible studies with friends and members of a Sabbath-keeping church. “I learned so many new truths about the Bible,” she recalls.

Casey was also introduced to Amazing Facts, and she says the ministry grounded her in the faith. “When I first started doing Bible studies, I watched Pastor Doug on satellite all the time,” she explains. Casey was so excited about what she was learning, she began sharing these newfound truths with others. She now gives Bible studies and gets excited when she can open the Bible and present the truth to people searching for real answers.

Sadly, her husband relapsed and fell back into substance abuse, which led to the break-up of their marriage. Such trauma might cause others to sour, but Casey says God has lightened her burden. She still feels compassion for her ex-husband. “I’m not mad at him, and I’ve forgiven him.” She is grateful that God has kept her through this difficult time.

In the midst of this emotional storm, Casey has learned that God is faithful. She is a living testimony to the outreach of Amazing Facts and the sustaining power that comes only from the Lord.
