A Positive Perspective

Scripture: Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:16
Date: 11/27/1999
We may take a positive perspective to events in life. Christians always have things for which to be thankful. This thanksgiving sermon reminds us that in everything we can give thanks, even for trials. Can we actually thank God for difficulties? Everything works for good when you love the Lord.

Always good to get a refresher on thanking God. I am in remission from lymphoma now for 2 years & 2 months but I still struggle with anemia from the chemo. I have realized that the cancer was a gift because it forced me to change my food and exercise programs. I have to work for every bit of progress. For years I abused my body by pushing over fatigue and eating processed food. Now, thanks to the cancer, I am on a much better diet and make a point to get my daily walk in as well as other exercises. I also have the gift of free time as I had to retire at 62 due to the cancer but I was granted disability so I get my full benefits as if I had retired at 66. This free time is a blessing and a needed one, as due to PTSD I have suffered with my whole life, I could not be consistent in goals as the PTSD limited me. Now with this gift of time I am able to focus on my health and get it right and return to the study of music which I always enjoyed. I praise and thank God for these gifts that by his miraculous hand I am still alive and getting better every day.
