Finding Answers

Even at 17 years old, Rej was full of curiosity about the meaning of life. “What is life really about?” he wondered. “And where do I belong?” As the second born in a large and faithful Catholic family, his heart longed for deeper understanding. Yet, the more he inquired and pondered, the less it seemed he knew. But God had answers waiting for Rej—through your compassionate gifts that would help him find the truth he needed!

Seeking Peace

Rej was born in Sudan, a predominantly Muslim country. When he was a teenager, his family immigrated to New York. The local parish welcomed the family and helped them to adjust to their new environment. Materially, Rej had everything he needed, but his heart was restless. Without answers to his deepest questions, life felt pointless. He struggled to make decisions and find direction. Rej’s first college semester didn’t go well, so he withdrew.

Back at home, he was in a low place. But one day, he got out his family’s Bible and read: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. … God created man in His own image” (Genesis 1:1, 27). “So, this is where I came from,” Rej thought. “I came from God!”

As he continued reading daily, Rej discovered that Jesus was the missing piece in his life. Now Rej had a new longing: “I want to line up my life with what I’m reading!” The Holy Spirit sparked the desire—and transformation began. The restlessness subsided; his joy and purpose grew.

A Leap in Knowledge

While channel surfing one day, Rej saw a bald man preaching from an open Bible. Rej had a Bible in his hands too, so as he listened, he would check it frequently to make sure what the man said was in his Bible too. It was! As he listened to Pastor Doug Batchelor, Rej’s understanding skyrocketed. He writes, “Amazing Facts led me into the truth of the Word. The more I watched, the more I rejoiced in the goodness of God.” Soon, Rej was even keeping the Sabbath.

When Rej’s family moved to Texas, he located a Sabbath-keeping church near his new home. Soon after joining a group Bible study, Rej was baptized! Today, his family seems open to his faith. Thanks to your faithful prayers and giving, Rej lives the truth of Proverbs 3:13: “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.”

Expanded Outreach in the Philippines
